2011 Hartman Design update

Posted on November 10, 2010

Hartman Design Inc. a US designer and manufacturer of low voltage lighting recently unveiled a 49.68 kw solar electric power system. The new system is installed at the Hartman Design headquarters in Pennsylvania and will enable the manufacturing business to produce 95% of the electricity used and maintain a competitive edge on their processes.

Designed and installed by RMK Solar of Wyomissing, PA the flat-roof gridconnected photovoltaic (PV) system is comprised of 216 Schott Poly high output 230 watt PV modules. The solar electric system is estimated to produce 60,800 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which equates to offsetting nearly 97% of Hartman’s consumption.

The solar electric system features Schott panels and SMA Inverters. Rob Kline, president of RMK Solar, Inc. says it is also significant to mention that these are American made components, not imported. This was particularly important while the system is being partially funded by US tax dollars and was the deciding factor by Hartman while securing a qualified designer and installer.
